An Update from Colorado
Many of you have asked me how things are going for me out in Colorado so I thought I'd post a few photos and an update. With the long holiday weekend, I spent a lot of time outdoors. In fact, I find that I now spend a lot more time outdoors in general! It's usually sunny here and warmer than it was in the midwest so I often come home from work and go for a walk. That combined with drinking a ton more water and giving up caffeine (and therefore soda) has had some wonderful health effects! I feel great and have toned up a bit! My favorite thing to do on the weekends has been to try to get in some hiking. The photo above is from when my sister, her fiancee and I went hiking last weekend up in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP). We even saw some moose on our way over to this hiking spot! Those pics are on her camera but I will try to get some and post them!
You might notice that many of the pine trees in this photo are a rusty red color - this is damage due to the pine beetle that is all over the Colorado mountains. From what I hear there have been many things tried to attempt to control them but besides a really hard freeze it's going to be difficult to wipe them out. This area is in the western area of RMNP and the beetle damage is everywhere. For now the eastern side of the park (near Estes Park) has very limited damage so I hope that there is something that can be done to help before they move into the rest of the park!
Now, on Memorial Day weekend, RMNP officially opens Trail Ridge Road which goes over the Continental Divide to get to the other side of the park. They have a nice visitor's center at the top but unfortunatly it's not open much of the year and here's why. That photo is of the road that we drove by and how high the snow still is on the side of the road! Now, it wasn't that high all the way but I have to tell you that I was a bit relieved when we went back the other way without the snow right next to us!
When we stopped at the visitor's center I bought two hiking books - one specifically for the park and the other for the Front Range (the area between Denver and the N. Colorado border in and around the mountains). This is where I live for those of you not familiar with Colorado. Anyway, Monday I got up and decided to do a Red Rocks hike in Bouder that is supposed to be a bit like the red rocks of Utah. Well, it was rainy and a bit overcast so it was a short hike with Maverick, my sister Carrie's dog but it was still very enjoyable! Here is a photo from the hike and also an attempt at a self portrait with Mav and I. I'll post more photos as I hike more but just wanted to share a bit about what I've been up to in my spare time when I'm not stamping or working! Now, back to stamping...

What a Difference a Day Makes!
Wow, what a difference a day makes! Yesterday it was 75 degrees out here in Colorado and this morning I drove to work in the snow. Of course, it had all melted by the time I drove home from work tonight! I hear that is how the weather is like out here and it's kind of fun!
This picture was from a few days ago and is the crocus up in my sister's yard. She also has daffodils blooming and it's really nice to see flowers and green after a long winter!

I've Saved the Best for Last!
I hope you've been enjoying my posts and photos of some of the things that you can do with Rub-Ons this week! I have one last project to show you and it is by far my favorite!!
This is a ceramic mug from a housewares store all decorated up for spring. It uses the A Perfect Day Rub-Ons from the Occasions mini for the saying and Sticky Cuts letters for the flower and center. Then, the flower was covered using the Cosmo fine glitter and the center was done with the new green microbeads!
The really fun part was cutting pieces off my sister's bush outside and making the flowers! These were done with the Pretties Kit, Flower Fusion and mini glue dots to hold them all together. I just love the result and I hope you do too!!
Don't forget that any of these items can be ordered to help you earn your free Sale-A-Bration stamps and/or Rub-Ons. You only have until this Sunday, March 16th to call or email me with your order so don't wait!

Rub-Ons for Mugs
Here are two examples of ceramic mugs decorated with Rub-Ons. They are both made with the Rub-Ons from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. I must say that this has been the most popular item for my customers this Sale-A-Bration! All of the Rub-Ons available in the Spring-Summer collection are in white and black only. However, this great set also includes a sheet in Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. I really hope that this is a sign of things to come because as much as I love Rub-Ons, I love them even more in color!!
Remember that to receive this set of Rub-Ons free from the Sale-A-Bration brochure you must order them by March 16th! You get a free Sale-A-Bration stamp set or Rub-On set for every $50 in product you purchase so these are absolutely free with your order!!

Photo Frames and Rub-Ons
Today's Rub-On sample is a picture frame. This is a photo of my parents and I a few years ago at my Aunt's wedding.
As you can see the rub-ons adhere not only to paper (and candles as you saw yesterday) but also to glass and wood. They would also adhere to the metal frame but I decided in this case less was more and stopped before I got to that point.
Can you see another item with a rub-on reflected in that frame? It's a mug that I made so the rub-ons also will adhere to Ceramic!
This frame uses the Urban West Rub-Ons for the saying on the base of the frame and the Cherished Memories Rub-Ons for the swirl in the corner of the photo!

Candles and Rub-Ons
One of the fun ways to use Rub-Ons is on candles! This is an inexpensive candle that I bought and I just applied the saying (from the Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons). To do this, I put the rub-on onto the candle and just rubbed it gently with my thumb to warm it up a bit and make it easier to apply. Supposedly, by doing this the rub-on will release from the paper easier. Anyway, then I just used my bone folder to apply! I then added a little of our Taffeta Ribbon for a nice touch. Of course, in typical Jen style, it still needed something so I made the little flower using the Flower Fusion kit, Pretties Kit and Ice Circle Brads. You just push the brad into the candle to secrue. Fun and easy!!
Here are a few more examples that we made using the cool Sale-A-Bration rub-ons that are available only through March 16th.

I Love Rub-Ons!
If you haven't already placed an order during Sale-A-Bration, there is one reason that you should... Rub-Ons!!
I love these little things! Here is a photo showing a bunch of things that my sister and I made last weekend using Rub-Ons when we were just playing around with our stamping stuff. Stay tuned over the next couple days for close up photos and more information about each item. Well, that is except for the clipboard since you've seen that one here before.
In other news, I am just in love with Colorado. Every day the weather forecast is "Sunny" and it is! Anytime I've wondered to myself what I'm doing here when many of my friends are back in Chicago I just look West and see the beautiful mountains and I remember! I also just registered to walk with my sister in the Furry Scurry in May. We're walking to raise money and awareness for animals in need of homes. Her dog will be joining us on the walk and we're looking forward to a fun morning doing something to give back!

Great Rub-On Card and More!
"...dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!" That is part of one of my favorite lines from the classic movie Ghostbusters. And, right now it's true! Several people have emailed me recently to find out how things are going here in Colorado and I have to say that I absolutely love it here! Aside from the dryness and needing to drink a ton more water, the weather is warm and sunny and the view is spectacular!
I'm staying with my sister for the time being until I find a place here and that's where the above quote comes in. My cats and her dog, so far everyone is afraid of each other, it's kind of funny actually. Cats are naturally curious so they're checking out the dog who growls at them but we think he's a little afraid of them too. I'm really hoping to get some cute pictures of them together at some point so I can scrap their introduction to each other. So far though everyone is behaving well and just avoiding each other.
To keep this somewhat stamping related, check out this great card that my friend Kim gave me at my going away party. Isn't awesome!?! I think I carried it around most of the night and showed it to everyone at the party! It's super easy, and is just made using the Sale-A-Bration rub-ons, Flower Fusion and colored brads on a cardstock base. Super easy and classy! Thanks Kim for the awesome card!!

Many Marvelous Marker Club Forming
Isn't this a great card? The chocolate frosting on the cake is made with a Chocolate Chip Marker and crystal effects! It's a very fun and easy technique and makes a cake that looks good enough to eat!
I love the Stampin' Up! markers and it's time for another Many Marvelous Marker club!! Markers are one of the staples at my stamp table. Each marker has a brush tip for coloring (both to color in areas and to color on the stamps) and a fine tip for journaling or addressing envelopes and of course they come in Stampin' Up's exclusive 48 colors! Plus, there's hardly a Stampin' Project out there where you couldn't substitute a marker instead of an inkpad!
You can purchase the markers individually for $3.25, a whole color family for $31.95 or the complete set of 48 for $125.95. By buying them as a complete set you're only paying $2.62 per marker for a total savings of over $30! Now, I know that a $125.95 price tag before shipping and tax is a bit steep to pay all at once so I offer Marker clubs to help you get the value of the full marker set but pay for them over a four month time frame.
In this club each month you get a full color family of markers and a matching pack of 8 1/2" x 11" Assorted card stock and during the last month you get:
- The color caddy that holds all 48 markers
- A Level 1 hostess set of your choice
- A set of neutral markers
- And, if you join the marker club by March 10th you'll also get a Sale-A-Bration stamp set of your choice!!
With shipping and tax this adds up to over $200 plus the value of the two free stamp sets but when you join the club you can join for just $46.95 per month! To join this great club and buy the marker set at a great value just email me to get started or with any questions!! Sorry but this club cannot be combined with any other special.

Triple Clipboard Design
Here's a photo of my newest creation - one of the Stampin' Up! Triple clipboards! I've been having so much fun shopping from the new catalog and dreaming up projects that I was inspired to put this clipboard together and I had so much fun! Can you tell??
This clipboard was made using the new Bali Breeze Designer Paper; Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons and several ribbons. The letters are from the On Board Lots of Letters chipboard, using my double embossing technique. It was really fun to put together and surprisingly fast and easy!
And, one great thing about the high quality Stampin' Up! Rub-Ons is that they stick to metal! After I took this photo I added white rub-ons to each of the "clippies" on the clipboard and they were so easy! As a tip, use a bone folder to apply them to your cardstock, metal, glass, etc.

At my new Catalog Open house on Friday evening, participants got to make this card and a second card with the new "Time Well Spent" hostess set! We had a great time and had fun finding and comparing our favorite items in the new catalog!
I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am! Remember, that in January you can purchase the Valentine's Bundle which includes this stamp set, two spools of ribbon and medium cello bags. You receive one of the spools of ribbon free in January for ordering the bundle which is a $7.95 value! Contact me today if you're interested in this great bundle. And, if you order this bundle by January 23rd then you can attend my free bundle class on the 31st! Don't live in the Chicago area? Order the bundle and I'll mail you the projects!
